The new model of Ford’s extreme pickup is out now, the 2014 Ford Super Duty. For those new to the Super Duty, this is the pickup that is ready to take on any challenge on the road. The 2014 Ford Super Duty is a heavy duty pickup truck with two available body styles, the F-250 and the F-350. There are five available trims for both the F-250 and the F-350. They are the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum. You can get a basic 2-door regular Cab or go all the way to the bigger 4-door Crew Cab. Also, the Super Duty is available in either a 6.8 foot cargo bed or an 8 foot cargo bed.
Basic interior features include only the necessary amenities: air-conditioning, vinyl upholstery, and a 2-speaker audio system. Go for the higher trims and you get to have more features like power locks/windows, power mirrors, cruise control, keyless entry, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats, and dual-zone climate control. Additional electronic features also come in the higher trims like a navigation system, a 4.2” trip computer, an 8” touchscreen with MyFord Touch, and an 8-speaker audio system with satellite radio.
The basic powertrain of the 2014 Ford Super Duty is a 6.2L V-8 gasoline engine that produces 385 horsepower and 405 lbs. of torque. There is an optional 6.7L turbo diesel V-8 that produces 400 horsepower and 800 lbs. of torque. The 2014 Super Duty is capable of carrying loads up to 4,240 pounds and with the additional towing extra, can tow a maximum load of 16,800 pounds.
Despite its very powerful engine, the 2014 Ford Super Duty is surprisingly quiet. Even on full throttle, you would hardly be deserved by the sound made by the engine. Although the Super Duty is a bit hard on the steering and handling, what really counts is its ability to go over slopes like hills and mountain roads, even while fully loaded.
