For those who love the Ford Focus, Ford brings you for next year the high-end model of the Focus. Available solely as a hatchback, the 2014 Ford Focus ST distinguishes itself from the regular Focus with some sporty additions. Its high-performance tires and stronger brakes allow for sudden stops not normally done with the regular Focus. It has a sport-tuned suspension and the interior is extra-trimmed for a much more comfortable ride. The 2014 Focus ST comes standard with air-conditioning, power accessories, keyless ignition/entry, cruise control, a leather-wrapped tilt-telescoping steering wheel. Basic electronic features include Ford Sync and a 6-speaker audio system w/ CD player, auxiliary audio jack and USB/iPod interface.
There are optional equipment packages which add even more features. With it you can upgrade the ST’s interior with leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated mirrors and seats, ambient interior lighting, plus additional electronics like an 8” display with MyFord Touch, and a 10-speaker Sony premium audio system w/ HD satellite radio.
The 2014 Ford Focus ST utilizes a 2.0L EcoBoost engine with an output of 252 horsepower and 270 lbs. of torque. The Focus ST has a pretty good acceleration rate, going from zero to 60 mph in just over 6 seconds with a top speed of 154 mph.
The 2014 Ford Focus ST scored good ratings in safety /crash tests, getting good scores in frontal/side impact protection and also in the roof strength test. Standard safety features include front side and side curtain airbags, antilock disc brakes, stability/traction control, blind-spot mirrors, Ford Sync for automatic notifications, and Ford MyKey for setting a speed and volume limit.
As a performance compact, the 2014 Ford Focus ST did great. The engine delivers excellent power which is more than enough to achieve performance driving on the road. With electric power steering and electronic differential control, the Focus ST is capable of some pretty exciting maneuvers.
