Although the Focus Electric is limited in cargo capacity because of its rechargeable battery, the nice cabin with its high quality materials pretty much makes up for it. For its engine, the 2014 Ford Focus Electric uses a 107KW electric motor connected to a lithium ion battery at its trunk. This setup generates an output of 143 horsepower and 181 lbs. of torque. This engine has a front drivetrain. It is estimated that the Focus Electric can go up to 76 miles on a full charge with a top speed of 84 mph. It will take about four hours to fully charge the battery if plugged in a 240V outlet. On a 120V outlet, it takes longer which is about 18 hours.
According to critics, the 2014 Ford Focus Electric delivers a ride experience that is smooth but pretty sharp. Its acceleration is pretty good and it handles well enough to maneuver through traffic, something which you normally don’t expect in a plugin car.
