Ford gives you the plugin version of the 2014 Focus compact car, the 2014 Ford Focus Electric. The Ford Focus Electric marks a first for Ford – the company’s first venture into the all-electric car arena. While the Focus Electric has a higher price and smaller cargo area, it makes up for it with other impressive features. The interior of the 2014 Ford Focus Electric deserves a lot of praise, being based on the regular Focus’ Titanium trim. One particular area deserving praise is the instrument cluster which features three panels. With this, both driver and front passenger can easily view a multitude of vehicle information like remaining energy, maximum range, even a driving coach.
The 2014 Ford Focus Electric is pretty loaded when it comes to interior features. You get heated seats, eco-friendly cloth upholstery, power locks and windows, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a tilt-telescoping steering wheel, push-button start, cruise control, dual zone climate control, reverse sensing system and an adjustable driver seat. You also have electronic features like Ford Sync, an 8” screen with the MyFord Touch interface, a navigation system, a 9-speaker Sony audio system with CD player, HD and satellite radio, and Sirius XM Traffic and Travel Link.
As a plugin, the 2014 Ford Focus Electric makes use of a 107KW electric motor that is connected to an LG lithium ion battery. The maximum possible output is 123 horsepower and 181 lbs. of torque. The battery features a liquid heating/cooling system which keeps the battery at an optimal temperature regardless of the outside climate. The Focus Electric requires a four-hour charging time for its battery when plugged in a 240V outlet. Charging time is longer if on a 120V outlet, about 18 hours.
For those looking for a plugin, the 2014 Ford Focus Electric is a good car to have. It retains most of the nice exterior found on the Focus. The hi-tech features it has are also very impressive.
